The Lightning Thief Audiobook free, written by Rick Riordan, is the first audiobook in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Audiobooks series. The audiobook was adapted into a motion picture and a graphic novel in 2010.

This audiobook tells of the main character, Percy Jackson, as he discovers a world much bigger than he has ever imagined but is immediately handed a quest to redeem himself from a crime he never committed.

Audiobook Review

An absolutely fantastic tale marvelously woven by the author Rick Riordan. As an audiobook written for young adults, I didn’t expect it to be as fun and engaging for an actual adult as it was. Move over Harry Potter Audiobook because Percy Jackson Audiobooks could kick your butt. Smart-mouthed, practical and fun Percy doesn’t go looking for trouble but he was born a hero, a combination of mortal and god parentage that he can not control. In a world where heroes are sent on quests all the time and spent their lives training Percy is a rare breath of fresh air.

I am a big fan of the Percy Jackson Audiobooks series. But what I found is that the movie isn’t as interesting and as good as the audiobooks. A fantastic audiobook for sure that has me thanking the gods I bought the series. Definitely worth the listen

Plot Summary

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse – Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him.

When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea.

Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends – one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena – Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
